Burning the Midnight Mosquito Torch

Greg made it! He and Mike successfully completed the Dixie 311 which according to Mike's GPS was more like the Dixie 314 (that's miles), with 53,000 cumulative feet of elevation gain. Now doesn't that just sound like so much fun? Only one other guy (the guy who put the route together) rode the full course; something like eight riders - including one woman - attempted what is called The Dixie Light, which is only 170 miles. Four finished. Of the other four, the whereabout of only one are known. He was last seen in a dusty backroads convenience store in Utah wearing nothing but a bike helmet and his tightie-whities, begging for Red Bull and Fat Boy ice cream sandwiches.

The boys are beat, and between the two of them, they took approximately 3,000 photos of some incredibly beautiful and sometimes rough terrain. Story and photos from the trip are forthcoming, but it'll probably be a couple of days before Greg is finished sorting and editing. He is diligently working on it, even into the wee hours of the night, trying to whittle the photo log down to a number that can reasonably be posted here. Please stand by!

In the meantime, Mike has posted a few of his shots over at bikepacking dot net.
